Curley K-8 Rallies
We asked. And you gave!

Thank You!

The Curley K8 Playing Field Committee gratefully announces that we have reached our goal!

After a busy summer, construction is almost complete. Our ribbon cutting ceremony is on Tuesday, October 28th at 11am. Please join us. (Rain date is Thursday, October 30th at 9am.)

What started as a dream – raise enough funds in one year to transform a 14,000 square foot broken up, unsafe asphalt lot into a safe, outdoor playing field and running track for our 900+ kindergarten through eighth grade students – has become reality. We are thrilled to announce that thanks to all of you, our generous friends, neighbors, city leaders and community partners, this project is officially being put out to bid through the Boston School Facilities department.

We want to thank everyone who supported us in this effort. We made a final push for the funds at the start of this New Year. We are humbled by the amount of donations, large and small, that have come pouring in. This is truly a community effort. We took our appeal to the streets, in the JP Gazette, in neighborhood and businesses association meetings, through appeals hosted by area businesses and through conversations with friends and neighbors. And you heard us and you responded. By contributing to this project, you are a part of a lasting legacy for our Curley students now – and into the future!

Thank you!

Student Voices

Student voices have been central to our campaign from the very beginning.

Learning Through Landscapes

The Curley has been creatively engaged in outdoor teaching and learning.

  • The Art of Landscape
Third grade students and parents from the Curley K-8 School explored art and the outdoors through a year-long series of art workshops in Olmsted's Franklin Park.
  • Innovative Outdoor Classroom
Our innovative Outdoor Classroom gives students the chance to dig into their Science, Arts, Mathematics and English Language Arts classes, literally!
  • The Curley Orchard
We welcome our wider community with a working orchard run by our parents. The jams and jellies parents create from the orchard's harvest helps parents to finance the Curley's music program.
  • Curated Play Structures
Our play structures were curated so as to be fun for our students, and at the same time, contribute to instructional support.
